Police seize $30K in fentanyl, cocaine during drug investigation in St. Catharines

Since March 2021, members of the St. Catharines Street Crime Unit and Opioid Education and Enforcement Unit initiated an investigation into the sale of fentanyl within the Region of Niagara by a male from North York.

On May 19, 2021, at approximately 12:06 p.m., the accused was arrested by the Niagara Regional Police Service Emergency Task Unit in the area of Manchester Avenue and Hampstead Place, in the City of St. Catharines.

As a result of the arrest, the male was found to be in possession of two cell phones, 70 grams of dark purple, purple and pink fentanyl, 20 grams of cocaine, and $5554.75 believed to be proceeds from the sale of the fentanyl and cocaine. In total, the drugs have an estimated street value of $30,000.

Shadrach Williams (33 years old) of North York was arrested and charged with the following offences of: 

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance to wit; fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking  s. 5(2) CDSA 
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance to wit; cocaine for the purpose of trafficking  s. 5(2) CDSA 
  • Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Over $5000 s. 355(a) CDSA
