Police seize $22K in suspected drugs during theft arrest in Grimsby

Officers also seized $730 as suspected proceeds of crime; two people face charges as a result

On Jan. 10, 2022, 8 District Grimsby uniform officers responded to a possible theft in progress at Shoppers Drug on St. Andrews Avenue in Grimsby.

Officers attended the scene, located the suspects, and placed them under arrest. A search of one of the suspects and her car recovered stolen property as well as a quantity of illegal drugs.  The drugs are suspected to be Fentanyl, Crystal Methamphetamine, prescription narcotics and Cocaine. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $22,000. Officers also seized $730 as suspected proceeds of crime.

Lukas Latka (29 years) of Grimsby has been arrested and charged with the offence of:

  •  Theft under $5,000

Lynn Marcoux (52 years) of Welland, has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (four counts)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

Latka was released on scene with a promise to appear and a future court date. Marcoux was held in custody and attended a video bail hearing on Jan. 11, 2021, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines. She was released from custody at that time, with a future court date of Feb. 17, 2022.
