Police seek suspects who crashed a rental car into an elementary school in St. Catharines

Detectives are searching for two suspects following a collision in the City of St. Catharines.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday Feb. 2, 2020 1 District (St. Catharines) uniform officers were on general patrol in the area of Niagara Street and North Street when they attempted to stop a rental vehicle for a routine traffic stop. The vehicle fled and a brief pursuit ensued which was terminated out of concern for public safety.

The red Ford Fusion was then located a short distance away in the area of George Street and Dufferin Street East having collided with an elementary school in that area.

Two male suspects were seen fleeing the vehicle.

They are described as:

  • Suspect 1 – male, wearing a green coat, jeans and a toque
  • Suspect 2 – male, wearing a shorter brown jacket and jeans

A K9 track of the area was unsuccessful.
