Police recover over $6K worth of stolen goods from St. Catharines residence

On May 12, 2021, 1 District – St. Catharines uniform officers of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of found stolen property. 

The initial investigation by officers led them to meet with a member of the public who had been the victim of a residential break and enter in St. Catharines in March of 2021. The victim reported that they had located some of their stolen property on Facebook Marketplace.

The investigation was then assigned to detectives from the 1 District Street Crime Unit. As a result of the detective’s investigation a suspect was identified. 

On May 26, 2021, detectives attended a residence on Rendale Avenue near Lanark Crescent in St. Catharines. The suspect was arrested and a search warrant was executed at the home. 

As a result of the search detectives located items linked to two break and enters, a theft from an automobile and a theft incident. The recovered stolen property included power tools and a mountain bike with a total value in excess of $6000.

Robert Kaminski (47 years old) of St. Catharines has been arrested and charged with the offences of:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 355.5(b)(i) CC
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 contrary to section 355(a) CC

Kaminski was held in custody in order to attend a video bail hearing on May 27, 2021, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
