Police looking for man in red hat who approached girl in Niagara Falls

On March 7, 2019 at approximately 8:30 a.m., uniform officers from the 2 District Niagara Falls office of the Niagara Regional Police responded to Father Hennepin Catholic School on Churchill Street in Niagara Falls. Officers attended for a report of a suspicious man.

Investigating officers learned that at approximately 8:15 a.m. on today's date, a 10-year-old girl was walking to school near the corner of Hawkins Street and Drummond Road. The girl was approached by a man in an older black four-door compact car. The man spoke with the girl briefly. The girl became scared as a result of the conversation and fled to a nearby residence.

The girl did not suffer any physical injuries as a result of the interaction.

At this point in the investigation, there has been no evidence to support that a criminal offence occurred. Detectives are attempting to identify and speak to the man involved to determine his intentions.

    •    Caucasian
    •    23-25 years old
    •    Red baseball hat
    •    White sweater or jacket
    •    Dark brown hair
