Police still searching for suspect in Fort Erie shooting

The 30-year-old suspect, who is considered armed and dangerous, is wanted for attempted murder, firearm use, and other offences

Niagara Regional Police Service continues to investigate a shooting that occurred on Oct. 25 at 10:51 a.m. in the area of Village Creek Drive between Old Mill Road and Ott Road in the Town of Fort Erie. 

The 30-year-old suspect, Aynla Mustafa Hassan, is currently wanted for multiple Criminal Code offences, including attempted murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, firearm use, and others.

Police describe Hassan as black male, 5’8” tall with dark hair in braids.

The male victim who suffered multiple gunshot wounds continues to recover.

Police say Hassan is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detectives assigned to 5 District (Fort Erie) continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a shooting that occurred on Oct. 25, 2022, at 10:51a.m. at a residential address in the area of Village Creek Drive between Old Mill Road and Ott Road in the Town of Fort Erie.  The adult male victim who suffered multiple gunshot wounds continues to recover.

Aynla Mustafa Hassan, 30, is currently wanted for following Criminal Code offences:

• Attempt to commit murder using a restricted or prohibited firearm

• Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon

• Use of a firearm during the commission of an offence

• Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device

• Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order

• Aggravated assault

• Pointing a firearm

• Fail to comply with release order

At the time of the offence Hassan was on federal parole. His parole has since been revoked and a second (Canada-wide) arrest warrant has been issued for failing to comply with his statutory release.

Hassan is described as follows:

  • Male
  • Black
  • 5’8” tall
  • 190 lbs
  • Dark hair in braids

The vehicle Hassan is believed to be driving is as follows:

  • 2008 Chevrolet Malibu
  • Ontario Registration #CWXJ 443
  • Brown in colour
  • four doors

Hassan is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached.  Members of the public who know the whereabouts of Hassan or the location of the vehicle he is believed to be driving are encouraged to contact 911 immediately.

Detectives continue to appeal to anyone who may have information related to this investigation. The lead detective can be contacted by dialing 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009525.
