At approximately  10:52 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, the Niagara Emergency Medical Services, Pelham Fire Services and the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle on Effingham Street north of Foss Road in the Town of Pelham, within the Regional Municipality of Niagara, Ont.

Initial investigation revealed that a 66-year-old Ridgeville female was on Effingham Street when she was struck by a southbound 2006 Volkswagen Jetta that was being driven by a 51-year-old Fonthill male. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagen did not suffer any physical injuries in this collision.

This collision remains under investigation by the Coroner's Office and Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit.
