One arrested after vehicle hits multiple cars in Port Colborne

Police say the driver exited his vehicle and fled on foot after striking three vehicles

On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at approximately 7:05 p.m., 6 District (Port Colborne) officers attended the area of Elm Street and Delhi Street in the City of Port Colborne, for a motor vehicle collision.

Investigation revealed a grey Sierra pickup truck was travelling southbound on Elm Street when it lost control and collided with a blue Nissan Versa that was parked on the side of the road. 

The vehicle continued to drive southbound into the driveway of a residence and collided with a silver Buick LeSabre that was parked in a driveway. The impact caused the Buick to turn sideways and was pushed up against the residence.

The driver of the pickup truck proceeded to leave the area and continued southbound on Elm Street where he collided with a red Ford Focus. 

The driver then exited his vehicle and fled on foot. Officers on scene were able to locate the driver where he was placed under arrest.

Kevin Sicard (38 years old) of Niagara-on-the-Lake was arrested and charged with the following offences of:

  • Fail to stop at scene of accident - Criminal Code
  • Careless driving - Highway Traffic Act
  • Red light - fail to stop - Highway Traffic Act
  • Driving while under suspension - Highway Traffic Act

Sicard was released on a Form 10 - undertaking and is expected to appear in court on Sept. 22, 2021.
