Man suffers serious injuries in Welland assault

On December 9, 2021, 3 District (Welland) uniform officers took a report of an assault that took place in the City of Welland.

Investigation revealed that on Dec. 9, at approximately 4:10 a.m., a male victim in his twenties was walking in the area of the Pen Financial building located in the area of East Main Street and Burger Street, in Welland. At this time, the victim was approached by a male in his twenties who spoke briefly with the victim and then began attacking him without any provocation. The male was subsequently joined by two additional males and all three began punching and kicking the victim, who fell to the sidewalk suffering from serious injuries. The three males left for a brief period and returned to the victim who was lying motionless on the sidewalk and began kicking and punching the victim, again.  

The males are believed to have left the area in a dark SUV. 

The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and is currently in stable condition. 

Detectives are looking to release photos of the suspects in an updated release.
