Man charged with attempted murder after incident in nightclub parking lot

On May 29th, 2022, at 12:40 a.m. Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-On-The-Lake) responded to a disturbance at Club Seven located at 5355 Ferry Street, in the City of Niagara Falls.

Upon arrival, officers were directed to the victim who was in the parking lot area located adjacent to Club Seven. The victim was suffering from multiple stab wounds. Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics attended the scene and provided medical treatment prior to transporting the victim to a local hospital. The injuries sustained by the victim were considered serious in nature, resulting in the victim being transported to an out-of-town trauma centre for further medical care.

2 District detectives attended the scene and assumed carriage of the investigation.  Investigation by detectives has resulted in the suspect being identified, arrested, and subsequently charged.

Ricardo Valderrama (52 years) of Niagara Falls, who was an employee of Club Seven is charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

• Attempted Murder

• Aggravated Assault

Valderrama, who was arrested on May 29th, 2022, was held in custody pending a bail hearing via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse on May 30th, 2022. Valderrama was released from custody on a release order/undertaking and has a scheduled court date of June 27th, 2022, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.

Detectives are appealing to witnesses who may have been at Club Seven or in the area of Club Seven at the time of the incident.  Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111, option 3, badge #1009408.
