Local resident facing trafficking charges

Police say that a search of a residence led to a seizure of over 60 grams of suspected cocaine with a street value of over $7,500 and $3,000 in currency

In May of 2021, detectives with the 1 District (St. Catharines) Street Crime Unit entered into an investigation into the sale of cocaine in the City of Thorold.

As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify a male suspect responsible for the sale of illegal drugs.

On Thursday, May 27, 2021, detectives arrested a male in the area of St. David’s Road and Burleigh Hill Drive in Thorold.  A subsequent search of a residence led to the seizure of over 60 grams of cocaine with a street value of over $7,500 along with $3,000 in currency.

41-year-old Nicholas Macsai of Thorold is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose Of trafficking (cocaine) contrary to 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of proceeds property obtained by crime under $5,000 - 355(b) Criminal Code

Macsai was released on a Form 10 – Undertaking with a future court date in relation to the charges.
