Kubota driver rushed to hospital after collision with SUV

A 64-year-old from Port Colborne suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash involving his Rugged Terrain Vehicle (RTV) and a Ford Expedition

On Feb. 22, 2023, at 11:45 a.m. Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 5 District (Fort Erie) responded alongside the Fort Erie Fire Department and Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics for a motor vehicle collision on Point Abino Road near Fox Road, in the Town of Fort Erie.

Upon arrival, officers determined an adult male was operating a black Ford Expedition north on Point Abino Road when a collision occurred with a Kubota Rugged Terrain Vehicle (RTV). The Kubota RTV was also travelling north on Point Abino Road. As a result of the collision, the Kubota operator sustained serious injuries and was first transported to a local hospital by paramedics before being airlifted to an out-of-town trauma centre for advanced medical care.

The driver of the Kubota, a 64-year-old male from the City of Port Colborne remains in an out-of-town hospital in serious life-threatening condition.

Detectives assigned to the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit have assumed carriage of the investigation. They are being supported by detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit.  The circumstances related to the cause of the collision remain under investigation.

Residents with CCTV footage that captures Point Abino Road and/or Fox Road, and motorists who were in the area with an operational dash-camera are encouraged to review their footage and contact the lead detective at (905) 688-4111, option 3, badge 1009089 with any relevant information.
