Inspection blitz pulls 33 vehicles from the road

More than 150 commercial and passenger vehicles were stopped June 8 in an inspection blitz in Lincoln and West Lincoln.

The focus of this initiative was to identify commercial motor vehicles intentionally bypassing the Vineland Inspection Station and to conduct in-depth inspections to ensure compliance with road safety standards, according to a news release.

The joint enforcement of the Niagara Regional Police Service, Halton Regional Police Service, Niagara Parks Police Service, the Ministry of Transportation and the Town of Lincoln comprehensively inspected 82 vehicles, removed 33 from the road, seized three sets of licence plates, and issued 17 tickets for various offences including: failing to conduct daily inspection logs, failing to ensure daily inspection logs are conducted properly, insecure commercial motor vehicle load, and failing to meet commercial motor vehicle performance standards.
