In November of 2021, members of the #3 District Street Crime Unit, with the Niagara Regional Police Service commenced an investigation into two suspects, who were allegedly selling fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine in the area of Welland Street and Durham Street in the City of Port Colborne.
On Dec. 9, 2021, both suspects were arrested. At 4:58 p.m., a warrant was executed in the area of Welland Street and Durham Street and the following items were seized:
- Fentanyl (16.2 grams) with a street value of $5670
- Crystal methamphetamine (11.3 grams) with a street value of $1130
- Crack/cocaine (8.7 grams) with a street value of $870
- MDMA/GHB (32 mls) with a street value of $2340
- $2,139 of Canadian currency
- 9 boxes of Global knives with a value of approximately $1500 that had been stolen.
- Numerous prohibited weapons; a butterfly knife, a flick knife, 2 swords and 2 Zerodis blade claws
Justin D. Roesler (33 years old) of Port Colborne was arrested and charged with the following offences of:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (crystal methamphetamine)
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the ourpose of trafficking (MDMA)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Possess prohibited/restricted weapon or prohibited device knowing
- Possession of weapon contrary to prohibition order
- Fail to comply with probation order (2 Counts)
Roesler was held in custody pending a bail hearing that was expected to take place on Dec. 10, 2021.
Marie Morin (58 years old), of Port Colborne was arrested and charged with the following offences of:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (crystal methamphetamine)
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (MDMA)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Possess prohibited/restricted weapon or prohibited device knowing
Morin was released on form 10 - undertaking with a future court date.
