Driver escapes burning vehicle in Niagara Falls. Faces serious charges

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday April 19, 2020, 2 District (Niagara Falls) uniform officers were called to the area of Margaret St and Warden Ave in the City of Niagara Falls following the report of a single-vehicle collision

When officers arrived, the vehicle was engulfed in flames and the male driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, had fled the scene.  

He was located and arrested a short distance away, then transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries resulting from the collision. 

29-year-old Cid Segovia of the City of Niagara Falls is facing the following alleged Criminal Code of Canada charges:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Fail to stop or remain
  • Obstruct/Resist peace officer

Segovia was released from custody with a future court date of May 13, 2020.
