On Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 12:47 p.m. the Communications Unit of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) received a 911 emergency call from a witness indicating there was a fight occurring between two men in front of a residential address located near Central Avenue and Lynnwood Avenue, in the Town of Grimsby.

Upon arrival, officers assigned to 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) located a 41-year-old female victim suffering from serious injuries consistent with having been stabbed with a knife. Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics responded alongside members of the Grimsby Fire Department who provided lifesaving measures to the victim, who was ultimately transported to an out-of-town trauma centre for advanced medical care. The victim remains in hospital listed in serious but stable condition.

The two men fighting were determined to have been the suspect and a good Samaritan who heard the attack and came to the victim’s aid. The suspect was taken into custody by responding officers. Detectives assigned to the 8 District Criminal Investigative Branch have assumed carriage of the investigation. They are being supported by detectives assigned to the Forensic Services Unit. It has been determined the suspect and victim were known to one and other.

Allan Timko (70 years) of Beamsville has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offence:

  • attempted murder

Timko was held for a bail hearing and attended via video link to the John Sopinka Courthouse located at 45 Main Street East, in the City of Hamilton on May 14, 2023. He was remanded into the custody of Ontario Correctional Services.
