On Oct. 26, 2022 at 7:51 a.m., Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines / Thorold) responded to a barbershop located on James Street in the City of St. Catharines after receiving information from a City of St. Catharines employee that the front window had been damaged.

Upon arrival, officers determined the window had been shot multiple times. Detectives assigned to the 1 District Criminal Investigative Branch have assumed carriage of the investigation. They are being supported by members of the Forensic Services Unit. The business was unoccupied at the time. No injuries have been reported.

Investigation has determined the shooting occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. Detectives have identified a suspect vehicle and are appealing to members of the public for assistance.

The suspect vehicle is described as follows:
    •    sports utility vehicle (SUV)
    •    newer model (possibly a Lexus)
    •    red in colour
    •    four doors

Upon review of CCTV footage thus far in the investigation, detectives believe the suspect vehicle was last seen in the area of Westchester Avenue and St. Paul Street in the City of St. Catharines.

Detectives are appealing to both area residents and business owners to review their CCTV footage and contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009628 with any relevant information.
