Arrest made in St. Catharines armed robbery investigation

On Monday, Aug. 16, 2021 at approximately 6:12 p.m., 1 District (St. Catharines) uniform officers attended the Regional Variety and Gas located in the area of St. Paul Street West in the City of St. Catharines in response to an armed robbery.

Investigation revealed an unknown male had [allegedly] entered the store with a firearm and demanded money and lottery tickets. The male fled the scene prior to police arrival and entered into the passenger side of a blue sedan.

There were no physical injuries as a result of the robbery.

Further investigation led to detectives identifying the suspect.

Andrew Windsor (32 years old) of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with the following offences of:
    •    robbery (firearm)
    •    disguised with intent
    •    pointing a firearm
    •    carry concealed weapon
    •    fail to comply with probation order
    •    fail to comply with release order
    •    possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (two counts)

Windsor was held in bail and is expected to appear in court on Aug. 18, 2021.
