Approximately $300K in gold, silver stolen from residence in St. Catharines

The incident occurred sometime between 1-3:30 p.m. on July 16; investigation is ongoing

On July 16, 2021, 1 District St. Catharines uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a residence in the area of Maywood Avenue and Hiscott Street in St. Catharines for a report of a theft.

The initial investigation determined that the complainant had kept gold and silver bars in their home.  It is believed the bars were stolen on July 14, 2021, between 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

The value of the stolen gold (nine bars) and silver (five bar) is estimated at approximately $300,000. 

The gold and silver are stamped with serial numbers.  The gold bars may have a serial numbers between the ranges of: 

  • 807850 – 807874 
  • 801450 – 801474

The matter was assigned to detectives from the 1 District Street Crime Unit.  The investigation has been ongoing.  Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, extension 1008961.
