Additional charges for St. Catharines massage therapist accused of sex assault

Nov. 19 update:
As a result of an on-going investigation by detectives assigned to the Sexual Assault Unit, an additional sexual assault complainant has come forward.

Incidents involving the second complainant occurred at two locations, a registered massage clinic and wellness centre, located in the area of Dunn Street and Drummond Road in the City of Niagara Falls and a registered massage clinic, located in the area of Merrittville Highway and Decew Road in the City of Thorold.

On Nov. 19, 2021, Todd Bennett (50 years) was arrested and charged with three additional counts of sexual assault, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code.

Investigators continue to believe there may be additional complainants and are asking anyone who has information to contact them.

Individuals and witness with further information are encouraged to contact detectives of the Sexual Assault Unit at 905-688-4111, ext. 1009363.

Original Aug. 6 release:
In June 2021, the Niagara Regional Police Service received a report of a sexual assault that occurred at a registered massage clinic and wellness centre in the area of Dunn Street and Drummond Road in the City of Niagara Falls. The alleged offence occurred during a scheduled massage therapy appointment.

On Aug. 6, 2021, detectives assigned to the Sexual Assault Unit arrested and charged Todd Bennett (49 years) of St. Catharines with one count of sexual assault, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Bennett was held in custody and attended a bail hearing via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on Aug. 6, 2021.

Investigators believe there may be additional complainants and are asking anyone who has information to contact them. Individuals and witnesses with further information are encouraged to contact detectives of the Sexual Assault Unit at 905-688-4111, ext. 1009363.
