Update: 3:30 p.m.

The missing Thorold male has been located, deceased.

Out of respect to his family, we will not be releasing any further details. No foul play is suspected.

The Niagara Regional Police Service would like to thank the media, public and our community partners for their assistance in this investigation.

The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) is presently conducting a critical missing person investigation into the whereabouts of 83-year-old Gurmel Gill of South Thorold.

Gill was last seen at approximately 7 a.m. this morning when he left his home in the area of Autumn Avenue and Homestead Way in the City of Thorold. The residence is in part of the new subdivision along the east side of Highway 58 (Davis Road) between Uppers Lane and Beaverdams Road.

NRPS officers have commenced a critical missing person investigation after his family contacted the police to report him missing.

Gill is described as:
    •    South Asain
    •    5'7, skinny build
    •    Black/grey hair tied back
    •    Thick white beard

Last seen wearing:
    •    A black hat
    •    Beige winter coat
    •    Pajamas
    •    Black Adidas slippers

Gill is believed to be on foot and does not know the area. He does not speak English well.

Police and Gill's family are concerned for his welfare.

The NRPS is asking the public to be on the lookout for Gill and to contact the police if he is seen.
