Thorold Anchors win 12-2 against St. Catharines 22U Cobras

‘Every win we get is a complete team effort,’ manager says after baseball team hits the field again

The Thorold Anchors won 12-2 against the St. Catharines 22U Cobras last night at McMillan Park in Downtown Thorold.

“I thought it was a good team game all the way around,” said Aaron McInnis, the team’s manager when asked for a reaction.

“Every win we get is a complete team effort.”

Last night’s game, sponsored by Donnelly’s Pub, was part of the Niagara District Baseball Senior Baseball League. The St. Catharines 22U Cobras are a junior team made up of 19 to 22 year-olds, but because they had no loop to play in they were invited into the Senior League.

With this game the Thorold Anchors are currently looking at a total of three wins and five losses for the season so far.

“My goal right now is to push this team to be somewhere around a .500 team,” said Aaron McInnis.

“I’d like to see Sunday at the OBA’s.”

A rematch against the St. Catharines 22U Cobras is happening Saturday night at 6PM at George Taylor Field in St. Catharines.
