Jackfish move into first place tie

WELLAND – Welland moved into a tie for first place thanks to a 13-1 win over visiting Toronto Saturday evening.

James Smibert went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run to lead the Jackfish (23-8), who are tied with London. Ethan Hunt drove in three on a pair of hits, Tyler Dupuis went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs, Gianfranco Morello drove in three, Justin Gideon had two hits and an RBI, Sam Cawker scored three times, Matteo

Porcellato picked up two hits and scored twice and Hogan Brown drove in a run.

Jake Harford, Mike Wagner and Deivy Mendez combined to one-hit the Maple Leafs. Harford (9-1) started and went seven innings, yielding a run on Dan Marra’s

RBI single in the fourth. Harford issued three walks and fanned five.

Angel Castro (2-3) took the loss, allowing 13 runs (nine earned) on 13 hits with a walk and four strikeouts over six innings.

Toronto dropped to 19-13.
