The Thorold Blackhawks are showing signs of being a serious contender this year

The Thorold Blackhawks and Pelham Panthers traded goals twice and the score was tied at two midway through the game. But the Hawks prevailed in the second half, scoring two more to take a 4-2 win on home ice last night in Jr. B action. 

Thorold defenseman Nick Gidney was named the first star of the game as he stepped up his game in the offensive zone scoring the game winner and an insurance goal.

Trevor Neumann scored for Thorold and was named the second star. Nicholas Rubino scored the other Thorold goal. Brad Ditillio of Thorold was named the third star.

Shots on goal were also close with Noah Fortuna kicking out 23 of 25 shots to get the win in the Thorold goal. The Hawks managed 28 shots on Panthers goalie Mick McGowan.

The fifth-place Hawks pulled a further two points ahead of the sixth-place Panthers.

The Hawks are having a great first half of the season and are just four points out of second place. Their next home game is against Welland, Thurs. Nov. 21 and game time is 7:07 p.m.
