Hawks hammer Regals

With the Buffalo Regals nipping at the heels of Thorold in the Jr. B standings, the Blackhawks widened the gap

The Thorold Blackhawks dominated the Buffalo Regals and scored a 5-2 victory in Jr. B hockey action at the Thorold arena last night.

The Hawks took a 3-0 lead in the first period on the strength of goals by Trevor Neumann, Brett Bressette and Nicholas Rubino. Nick Gidney had a pair of assists in that period.

In the second period Buffalo pulled to within one goal as Anthony Trigilio and Jacob Allan scored sending the teams into the dressing room at the end of two periods with Thorold leading 3-2.

In the final frame Thorold got goals from Brad Ditillio and Riley Sutherland to seal the win.

The Hawks dominated completely in the shot count, taking a 61-29 edge in that department. Chasi Grsic got the win in the Thorold goal.

Hawks Bressette and Neumann, along with Ben Varga of Buffalo were first, second and third stars respectively.

Next Thursday, Oct. 17, the Hawks are home to Fort Erie with game time at 7:07 p.m.
