It was an even match across the scoreboard except for the final score as Merritton Alliance edged the Thorold Anchors by a 2-0 score in men's senior baseball at McMillan Park last night.

Merritton managed two runs on four hits while Thorold matched them with four hits but couldn't get anyone across the plate. The Alliance also completed an error-free game, while Thorold committed three errors.

Dan Krasulja, Dan Boeketten, Russell McKeown and Chris Ciolfi had the hits for Thorold. Luke Edwards took the loss on the Thorold mound.

Merritton got hits from Zack Dermont, Matt Kerr, Adam Hope, and Chris Haggard. Dermont and Hope had RBIs for the Alliance. Pitcher Adam Hope got the win. Merritton scored runs in the first and third innings and held on for the win.

Anchors management praised City of Thorold staff for a job well done on getting the diamond ready after a rainy day.

The Anchors' next home game is Aug. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at McMillan Park.
