High winds expected Sunday across Niagara Region

A windy Sunday is in the offing for residents of Thorold and communities across Niagara Region, warns Environment Canada.

Wind gusts of up to 80 km/h are possible throughout the day, which could pose a problem for drivers of some vehicles.

  • Niagara Falls - Welland - Southern Niagara Region
  • St. Catharines - Grimsby - Northern Niagara Region

Strong winds expected today.

Hazard:
Strong winds gusting up to 80 km/h.

Timing:
Beginning late this morning and ending this evening.

Discussion:
Strong southwest winds are expected to develop late this morning.

High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Motorists, especially in high profile vehicles, may expect hazardous driving conditions on highways subject to strong cross winds.
