Sharpen your tools and start planning your designs – Thorold’s Village Church is getting ready to host both a pumpkin carving party and a grand display, where the winner has a chance at the title of the town’s best Jack-O-Lantern artist.

“Our church has three core values: learning together, serving together and welcoming our neighbours. This event really fits into all of those elements,” said pastor Mark DeVos to ThoroldToday.

It is the first time that the church will host a carving contest, which will commence after closer to two years of cancelled events brought on by the pandemic.

“We want to provide opportunities for families to be outdoors and enjoy the weather while we have it,” continued DeVos.

The pumpkin carving party will be held on Sunday October 24th at 11:30 a.m at the TCAG Centre on Richmond Street, with the pumpkin walk being held on October 29-30 between 4-7 p.m at the Richmond Street Park, beside the TCAG.

The pumpkins will be lit after dusk.

Participants are required to pre-register for both events, using this link.

The winner will be announced on the Village Church website and, apart from the title, receive a honorarium of $50
