Two Niagara charities will be receiving support from CAA Niagara after its annual 'Community Boost Funding Program' was announced on Thursday.

The road assistance organization said it would be providing $10,000 in marketing assistance, volunteerism and other forms of fundraising support for the next year to Hospice Niagara and Gillian's Place. The two charities will also be more visible on the road, as CAA Niagara decals a fleet vehicle each with the branding of the two organizations.

The help reached Gillan's Place, which supports survivors fleeing domestic abuse, in just the right time, said Tanja Loeb, executive director.

“The generous $10,000 grant will have an immediate impact, as we work harder than ever to ensure survivors of gender-based violence have the security and support they need and deserve," Loeb said.

"During these increasingly challenging and isolating times, we know individuals experiencing violence within their homes are at increased risk and many are not able to safely access vital supports. Now, more than ever, a branded Gillian’s Place truck driving throughout our community will help spread awareness about gender-based violence and our services, including our 24/7 phone or text support line."

Over 60 charities applied to be a part of the Community Boost Program. It has been handed out since 2018.
