Thorold South resident John LePera loved nothing more than his family, his friends and his dog Rocky, according to his friend, Lisa Tremblay.

And because he was a long-time member of Club Belvedere and he loved animals, she’s organizing a trivia night fundraiser at Club Belvedere on Saturday, May 4 in his memory, with all proceeds earmarked for the Lincoln County Humane Society.

“This will be the second year I have held a trivia night for the Humane Society,” she said, “but this year after losing a dear friend, I decided to donate the proceeds in his memory. I thought it was fitting; I miss him dearly and thought this would be a nice way to honour him.”

LePera passed away Sept. 12, 2018 after a courageous battle with a brief illness. He was a lifelong employee of the St Lawrence Seaway, and had retired in 1999.

Tremblay has arranged a bonus earlybird draw prize for the event.

“If you buy tickets by April 1, you can win tickets to Ripley’s Aquarium,” she stated.

Tickets cost $25, with a maximum of 10 team members, and include a pasta dinner.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the trivia portion of the event starts at 7 p.m.

Tickets are available at Club Belvedere, located at 57 John St., at the Lincoln County Humane Society, or by calling Lisa Tremblay at 289-407-7155.
