Community Care has opened the registration for its annual Snacks ’n Sneakers-program for students who are getting ready to return to the classroom after more than 16 months of turbulence brought on by the pandemic.

Each child born between 2004-2017 and registered with Community Care, is eligible to apply for the Snacks n’ Sneakers program and receive a backpack with school supplies, healthy snacks and a pair of brand-new sneakers.

Community Care said an appointment system will be in place this year to maintain social distancing during distribution.

Registrations are open until August 27 and will be done by phone, Monday-Friday, 9 - 4.

To apply for the program, Community Care asks parents/guardians to call their office at 905-685-1349 (St. Catharines) or 905-227-9240 (Thorold) to book your child(ren)’s appointment(s), which will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Community Care said guardians need to provide their child’s current shoe size when calling.

The program is done in partnership with Canadian Tire Bank, CTB.
