‘The Pen Centre will remain open.’

That was the message in a statement from the shopping center this afternoon after premier Doug Ford declared a state of emergency for the province amidst the coronavirus pandemic that currently has three confirmed cases in Niagara.

The mall food court will be open for take-out only, and no customer seating will be available.

A handful of stores have modified their hours (full hours found here), and some have closed until further notice, or say they will open later this month.

‘Please note that this situation is fluid and we will continue to provide updates as details are available._

'As always, the health & safety of our visitors, tenants and employees is our highest priority and we will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and act in accordance with the CDC,’ the release stated.

Changes to the rest of the retail landscape are happening quickly in the area as Zehrs on Glendale Avenue decided to implement special hours for those who might be at risk.

'People living with disabilities and Seniors will be able to shop from 7 am and our official regular store opening hour will be at 8 am Monday to Saturday. We will keep our close time at 11 each day to allow all customers time to spread out their shopping,' Zehrs said on their Facebook page.
