On the market for unique vintage treasures? (3 photos)

You won't find jewelry like this in any store any more, except possibly in Europe

If you’re a fan of vintage European jewelry, the Tepylos have a deal for you.

Bought at an auction by Thorold residents John and Theresa Tepylo, still pristinely packed in boxes, are stunning antique bracelets, cameos, earrings, pendants and rings.

Many were made in Holland, and designed with the country's trademark bright blue windmill patterns. Among the numerous Dutch treats, there are tiny blue wooden shoe charms, and about 170 small Delft Royal Sphinx saucers, also made in Holland.

Some of the treasures - now more than a half-century in age - come in copper and porcelain, or are silver- and gold-plated, and higher in quality while others are less expensive, made for the tourism market.

When the Skylon Tower was erected in October of 1965, a jewelry boutique beckoned tourists to shop for souvenirs on the Niagara Falls beacon’s bottom floor.

According to Tepylo, the store’s inventory was sent to auction upon the boutique owner's death.

Created in that era, many of the items came wrapped in 1960s newspapers, and have handwritten price tags still attached.

But the Tepylos are selling them at “super discounts,” John told ThoroldNews, since he bought such great quantities.

“We have been selling the Dutch jewelry since 2013, but have lots left, and are willing to go to events where we could sell the jewelry.”

In addition, he stated, “We are willing to do presentations for groups and home parties.”

Anyone who is interested can contact the couple through the email address [email protected], which then gets forwarded to John’s personal email.
