Five deaths reported since Friday in Niagara, Public Health says

Niagara Public Health reports 5,850 active cases of COVID-19 in the region on Monday.

Five new deaths have been reported since this Friday, leaving the official death toll at 457 on Monday.

Before the weekend area hospitals were caring for 145 patients, of whom 99 were being treated primarily for COVID-19, and 46 others for other conditions.

26 residents were in the ICU, of them 16 unvaccinated.

67 outbreaks are active, with most of them being reported in healthcare settings.
