Fire crews respond to smoke at old Dana plant

Fire trucks were called to the scene after concerned residents reported smoke coming from former auto-parts factory; fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries reported

Fire trucks raced to the old Dana plant off Hayes Road in Thorold South on Monday afternoon, after concerned residents reported smoke coming from the empty building.

Once inside, firefighters found a small fire. It was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.

The former Dana auto-parts factory has been sitting empty since 2008, when Dana Corporation shut down its longstanding Thorold operation.
