COVID-19: Active cases drop in Niagara, 18 new infections noted today

Another drop in active COVID-19 cases in the region was noted on Thursday after another 30 recoveries pulled the count down to 177.

18 new cases were added to the region's active case count, which is a drop from the numbers noted last week.

St Catharines has 62 of those cases, with the closest number being noted in Welland, which has 22 cases.

Thorold has 9 active cases as of Thursday.

The death toll remained unchanged at 439.

No new outbreaks were noted.

9 patients are being treated in the hospital, with 5 unvaccinated, 3 fully vaccinated and 1 partially vaccinated.
