COVID-19: 85 in area hospitals with the virus in Niagara

The number of Covid-patients who are primarily receiving care after testing positive have been dropping in area hospitals in the last week. Of 85 patients in the hospital with positive test results, 18 are being cared for due to complications from the virus.

Three patients are in the ICU, of which one is vaccinated, Niagara Health said.

The numbers comes as Public Health reports 1,288 active cases around the region, including 14 new confirmed cases on Friday. The death toll now sits at 555.

13 local long-term care or other medical settings are currently battling outbreaks of the virus.
