A single case of COVID-19 confirmed in Niagara today

NRPH reports a single case of COVID-19 in the region today, as the number of active cases dropped below 50 for the second time this summer.

According to Public Health, Wainfleet, Fort Erie and Niagara-on-the-Lake have no cases being tracked, Thorold has 5, and St Catharines 18.

The news comes as just under 60 percent of Niagara residents have received a full series of vaccines, with 2,210 doses administered yesterday.

Three patients are being care for in the hospital, with one of those cases admitted to the ICU.

Ontario reported 158 new cases on Wednesday and 4 more deaths.

The rolling seven-day average of new cases is up to 160 today, an increase of 10 week-over-week.
