June marks the official observance of Seniors’ Month and, as has now become tradition, we have a full schedule of celebratory events. This year all activities will of course be virtual. Are we worried that BINGO is going to get out of control as it used to in person? Yes, obviously that’s a concern. We just plan to remind participants that we’re on the internet now and therefore must follow certain rules of decorum so as not to get kicked off. Wish us luck.

This year we have partnered with the Ontario Paper Thorold Senior Centre, Thorold Age Friendly Committee, and Thorold Community Activities Group to offer a program every Wednesday in June at 1:00 p.m. We have determined through extensive scholarly research that this is your ideal schedule sweet spot between quarantine morning activities (read: none) and quarantine afternoon activities (read: also none but in the afternoon).

For the June 16 event, Thorold Community Activities Group (TCAG) will be leading a gentle chair yoga class. This class will be lead virtually (anyone sensing a theme here?) and, as with all these events, there is no cost to register.

Details regarding the Senior of the Year Awards (September 8) will be forthcoming as further covid guidelines unravel in the coming weeks. This event will be held either in limited in person outdoor capacity or available to view via (spoiler!) on online platform.

To register for any of these events, patrons can contact the library via email [email protected] (preferred) or phone 905-227-2581.

A valid email address must be given upon registration in order for us to send you the link of your program. It’s not the kind of virtual that it’s not actually happening. Thankfully, these are all real events.
