Federal Election brings no changes to Niagara's political landscape

The federal election brought no changes to Niagara’s political cabinet, as all incumbent federal representatives were re-elected overnight. 

Vance Badawey, MP for Niagara Centre will continue to represent the region on the federal level in the House of Commons.

According to the latest available polls, Badawet received just under 35 percent of votes, beating his Conservative opponent Graham Speck with around 33 percent and NDP candidate Melissa McGlashan with 24 percent of the vote.

Newcomer candidate Michael Kimmons of PPC received 8.1 percent and Kurtis McCartney, Greens, 2 percent.

Niagara Falls Tony Baldinelli, Niagara West’s Dean Allison and Chris Bittle of St Catharines will all continue their mandates.

On Tuesday morning, mail-in ballots were still being tallied.
