The Niagara River Lions announced today the signing of 6’6 American guard, Omari Moore. Moore, a 23 year-old from Pasadena, California averaged 9.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists during the 2023-24 NBA G-League season playing for the Raptors 905. 

“I am very excited to welcome Omari as another new addition to our River Lions family,” said head coach and general manager, Victor Raso. “Omari is a very talented, athletic point guard who can impact the game offensively and defensively in a variety of ways, and we are excited that the next stop on his basketball journey will be in Niagara.”

Moore played four seasons at San Jose State University, averaging 11.1 points, 3.7 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 116 games. Moore scored a total of 1,312 points over his time with the Spartans earning his place as the 4th highest scorer in San Jose State history. Moore finished with a field goal percentage of 45.4 per cent, ranking 5th all time in program history. Moore finished his college career leading the Spartans with 17.4 points and 4.8 assists in 36.5 minutes per game during the 2022-23 season. These career high numbers led to Moore winning Mountain West Player of the Year as well as a spot on the First team All-Mountain West.

Moore started his professional career as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks NBA Summer League team in 2023 where he averaged 2.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals over 5 games. Moore went on to sign with the Raptors 905, where he took advantage of this new opportunity averaging 28.9 minutes per game. In addition to this, Moore had a strong Showcase Cup where his minutes increased to 32.3 which led to him averaging 9.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. 

Moore joins the River Lions this summer hoping to keep this momentum from the 905 going to add to his young professional career. “I am really excited and grateful for the opportunity to play for the River Lions this coming season,” said Moore. “Fans can expect a player who is going to come out and compete on both sides of the floor to try and help the team win. This season should be a lot of fun!”
